Vintage Kigu Powder Compact, Black Enamel and Ornate Gold-Tone Centre, Round Patterned Case
Description
A ring of black around a golden flourish, a little midnight ornament with light caught in its patterned surface.
This vintage Kigu powder compact pairs a black enamel surround with an ornate gold-tone central disc. Scrolling decoration encircles a plain centre, bordered by fine repeating texture. The contrast is bold without relying on a painted scene, allowing colour, relief, and circular geometry to carry the design.
The reverse is richly patterned with radiating wave-and-diamond motifs. Inside, a mirror faces a hinged inner powder cover bearing the crowned triangular Kigu emblem amid fine concentric decoration. It is a distinctive counterpoint to floral compacts, equally at home among dark vanity treasures and warm-toned metalwork.
