Vintage Stratton Ballerina Powder Compact, Amber Enamel, Gold-Tone, New, Original Packaging, All Accessories
Description
She has been mid-pirouette since the day she was made, and she has not tired of it yet.
There is a particular kind of object that arrives in the Vault and immediately makes itself at home among the heavy tomes and the candlelight: this is one of them. The lid is a small, complete world. A hand-painted ballerina in a black tutu, one arm raised, one leg extended, caught at the precise moment before the turn completes, suspended there forever against a warm amber enamel ground that deepens toward the edges like the last hour of an autumn afternoon. The whole thing is framed in Stratton's signature scalloped gold-tone, with a concentric engine-turned reverse that catches the light like a slow exhale.
This compact was made to be kept. New, never used, all accessories present, original packaging intact. It arrived in the Vault exactly as it left the factory, which is to say: perfect. Some things wait for the right hands. This one has been waiting a long time.
