Description

One mermaid. Two tides.

Turn the rectangular centre of this sterling silver swivel ring and the scene changes its light entirely. On one side, a mermaid holds her trident among the waves in darkened silver bas-relief, precise and shadowed. On the other, the same figure appears beneath translucent turquoise-green guilloché enamel, the engine-turned ripple pattern beneath the glass catching the light like water in motion.

The dual-pivot construction makes the transformation part of the jewel itself. This is not a ring that simply sits on the hand: it is a ring to be turned, discovered, and turned again. Art Deco in sensibility, mythological in subject, and genuinely rare in form.

The inner band is stamped STERLING. The mermaid figure, likely a stylised representation of a sea goddess such as Amphitrite or Salacia, is rendered with the kind of fine hand-engraved detail that makes the motif legible even at this scale.
