This pendant is not cast. It is not manufactured. It is hand wire-wrapped: multiple silver wire strands laid in parallel across the face of a large amethyst heart cabochon, gathering at the crown into a tightly wound coil that terminates in a flat spiral rosette, each turn of the wire placed deliberately by hand. The wrapping is clean and even, the parallel wires precisely spaced, the spiral terminus well-formed and symmetrical. Every wire-wrapped pendant is a unique object. This one cannot be reproduced identically.

The stone is a large puffy heart cabochon of natural amethyst, polished to a high dome, the surface showing the characteristic colour banding and zoning of genuine amethyst: deep violet-purple concentrations shifting into lighter lavender areas in a natural pattern within the stone. Natural colour zoning is the mark of real amethyst and this specimen shows it clearly and beautifully. At two inches long and one and a half inches wide, the heart has genuine presence and weight on the chest. This is not a small or delicate pendant.

The chain is a popcorn or caviar chain at 27 inches total length, the surface formed of tiny interlocked rounded bead units creating a textured granulated surface with a deep oxidised dark finish, the individual beads catching light across the full length. With a 13.5 inch drop from clasp to pendant base, the heart sits low at the sternum or centre of the chest, a long dramatic wear position that suits the scale of the stone. The oxidised tone of the chain is a perfect complement to the violet of the amethyst. The clasp barrel is stamped 925 in a cartouche.
