This cameo is the larger, more dramatic sister to the quiet oval. Set in a substantial rolled gold frame with four decorative claw settings holding the shell securely at each compass point, it sits on the lapel with the kind of presence that does not need to announce itself. The carving is exceptional: a classical female portrait in deep, confident relief, her hair swept back in loose, flowing waves with each individual strand rendered in fine, precise lines that catch the light differently as the piece moves. Her profile is clean and composed, her drapery falling softly at the shoulder in layered folds.

The reverse is stamped R.G., the period marking for rolled gold, a thick layer of gold bonded over a base metal core, more durable and more substantial than gold plate, and the frame carries that quality: warm, even, and beautifully preserved. The C-pin clasp functions exactly as it should.
