Vintage Stratton Powder Compact, Deep Aubergine Enamel, Jewelled Floral Centrepiece with Faceted Stone and Seed Pearls, Star-Pattern Reverse, Brand New with Puff and Slip, Made in England

The purple is deep enough to lose yourself in. The centrepiece looks like jewellery.

This is one of Stratton's more dramatic compact designs: a circular compact in a deep aubergine-purple polished enamel, the colour rich and reflective, carrying a raised jewelled floral centrepiece mounted dead centre into the lid face. The centrepiece is gold-tone with a large faceted deep ruby-red stone in a round cut set into a scalloped petal mount, the petal points alternating with tiny seed pearl cabochons in their own individual gold settings. It reads as a brooch. It reads as something you'd find inside a jewellery box, not a vanity drawer. On the purple enamel ground, with the warm gold hardware framing it, it is extraordinary.

The reverse carries Stratton's all-over raised star pattern: a dense repeating field of small raised star motifs covering the entire gold-tone surface, the Stratton Made in England cartouche embossed centrally into the star ground, legible and sharp. The single-barrel hinge is tight and flush. The inner rim edge carries a fine engraved catalogue inscription, confirming this as a documented model within the Stratton range.

The interior is brand new. The full-width mirror in the lid is bright and unspotted. The base section holds the original Stratton branded powder puff: soft blush-pink with the Stratton script embossed directly into the puff fabric in the same tone, unused. The sifter beneath it is intact. The original Stratton slip is present.
