This is not printed, painted, or plated decoration. The gold is in the metal. This bangle is a fine example of the Toledo craft at its best: the entire outer face covered in a continuous flowing arabesque of acanthus leaves, scrolling vines, carnation-form flowers, and four-petalled rosette motifs, all in warm gold on a deep even black ground. The edges of each gold element are crisp and precise; the pattern is symmetrical and unbroken around the full circumference of the bangle.
