Description

The case appears never to have been carried. Someone engraved BD on the front, placed a government embassy voucher inside, and closed it.

An unused vintage silver-tone cigarette case in exceptionally well-preserved condition, personalised to the front with the neatly engraved initials “BD.” The exterior has a clean, restrained finish, while the interior retains its original single retaining band. This is the case's intended one-band construction rather than a missing component.

Found tucked inside was an “Embassy Voucher of HM Government,” which will remain with the case. HM Government is the formal term for His or Her Majesty's Government of the United Kingdom, depending on the reigning monarch. The voucher is included as found diplomatic ephemera and as part of the case's small surviving story; no claim is made that it remains valid, redeemable, or legal tender.

The only factory wording found on the case is “PATENTED.” No maker's mark or precious-metal hallmark is present, so it is described conservatively as silver-tone metal rather than sterling silver or silver plate. Despite the personal engraving, the case appears unused and is best understood as vintage new old stock.

The Particulars:

  • Form: Vintage hinged cigarette case
  • Material: Silver-tone metal; no precious-metal hallmark found
  • Personalisation: Engraved initials “BD” to the front
  • Interior: Original single retaining band; one-band construction by design
  • Mark: “PATENTED” only; maker unknown
  • Accompaniment: Original found “Embassy Voucher of HM Government,” included with the case
  • Voucher status: Sold as historical ephemera only; validity and redeemability are not claimed
  • Condition: Exceptional unused vintage condition / new old stock. Please review all photographs carefully before purchasing.

BD never carried it. The government voucher was never spent. Both have been waiting together.

Arrives carefully wrapped as a vault relic.
