White figures in relief bring flowing drapery and sculptural detail to the lid, while the textured reverse bears the Stratton, Made in England mark. Its smaller format gives the scene the intimacy of a collected cameo.

Inside, a mirror faces a hinged inner powder cover decorated with fine horizontal lines, small repeating motifs, and Stratton branding. Lift that cover and the powder well reveals its own record of age and use. Vaen’kai Vault identifies this example as rare; no production quantity, precise date, or identification of the classical figures is claimed.

The Particulars

Maker: Stratton

Lid element: Matte blue Wedgwood, as identified in the seller’s notes

Design: White classical figures in relief

Format: Mini powder compact with scalloped case

Finish: Gold-tone metal; exact composition unconfirmed

Interior: Mirror and hinged inner powder cover

Marking: Stratton, Made in England on the reverse

Rarity: Considered rare by Vaen’kai Vault

Usage: Used

Condition: Good overall according to the seller’s notes, with mirror deterioration, old glue inside the powder well, and visible age and use wear

Included: Compact only, with no puff, sifter, slip, or box supplied

The mirror shows patches of foxing or reflective-surface deterioration, particularly near its edge.
