The form itself is puffy and three-dimensional, the heart rounded and full rather than flat, the volume giving it a warmth and presence that a pressed flat locket does not have. The interior is plain polished silver on both leaves, with space for a photograph or keepsake on each side, and the words I Love You embossed into the right-hand leaf.

The locket is sterling silver, stamped 925 on the reverse. The box chain is also fully marked, the 925 stamp visible on the spring ring clasp barrel. The piece is complete with its original chain.
