The peacock has never been a subtle creature, and this compact does not ask it to be.

There are objects that enter the Vault and quietly take their place among the curiosities. And then there are objects that walk in, spread their tail feathers, and dare you to look away. This is the second kind.

Against a deep teal enamel ground, a gold peacock stands in full display: body rendered in fine raised relief, tail feathers trailing outward in a sweep of textured gold dots and delicate etched lines that catch the light differently with every movement. Up close, the craftsmanship borders on the unreasonable. Each feather eye is individually formed. Each line of the tail is drawn with the kind of precision that suggests someone, somewhere, cared enormously about getting this exactly right, and then kept going. The reverse is clean brushed gold-tone, warm and uninterrupted, because the lid has already said everything that needs to be said.

New, never used. All accessories present. Original packaging intact. It has been waiting in exactly the condition it left the factory: immaculate, patient, and entirely aware of what it is.
