Vintage Silver-Plated Cigarette Case, Mixed Engine Turning, Blank Cartouche, Gilt Interior with Steel Spring Retainer

The outside has aged softly. Inside, the gold remains untouched and the spring is still waiting.

A vintage silver-plated cigarette case in apparently unused new-old-stock condition, with a bright patterned exterior and an unusually pristine gilt interior. Both exterior faces carry mixed engine-turned decoration: a broad central field of fine repeating waves framed by narrower diamond-textured side panels and crisp linear borders.

A polished rectangular cartouche is reserved to one face and remains blank and unmonogrammed. Its plain surface shows fine storage scratches, contrasting with the surrounding patterned ground.

Inside, the warm gold-tone finish appears untouched. Rather than the elastic bands fitted to many cigarette cases, this example uses a long steel coil-spring retainer mounted across the interior. The spring is intact and gives the case a particularly satisfying mechanical construction.

Small stamps are present near the upper edge and inside the case, but their wording has not yet been fully transcribed. No maker attribution or country of origin is claimed pending a closer reading of those marks.
