Two plain rectangular panels punctuate the decorated face, with no visible inscriptions. The reverse continues the repeating texture within a softly rounded rectangular outline.

A clear EPNS stamp appears on the inner rim, identifying electroplated nickel silver rather than solid silver. The Vault’s original listing identifies the design as Art Deco; no exact production date, maker, or country of origin is established.

The Particulars

Type: Hinged cigarette case

Style: Art Deco geometric decoration

Material: EPNS, electroplated nickel silver

Mark: EPNS stamped on the inner rim

Exterior: Repeating textured pattern, ribbed bands, and tapering central motif

Plain panels: Two rectangular cartouches without visible inscriptions

Form: Rounded rectangular case with side catch

Condition: Well-used, with substantial visible surface and interior wear

Maker, origin, and exact date: Unidentified

The photographs show scratches, rubbing, dark specks, and uneven surface colour across the case. Wear is particularly apparent around the rims, hinge, and catch. The interior has broad silver-coloured areas bordered by patchy yellow-brown colouring, with spotting and a roughened-looking surface in places. This may reflect deterioration of an earlier interior finish, but neither original gilding nor removal through cleaning is confirmed. No gold inlay is claimed.

The supplied close-ups do not fully document the interior fittings, so the presence and condition of retaining bands are not established. Catch strength, dimensions, and capacity are also unrecorded. Offered as a well-worn collectible, with its condition forming part of its character rather than concealed beneath a pristine description. Please study the detailed photographs carefully.

A geometric pocket relic for a keeper drawn to objects that have participated in daily life, carrying the marks of that history openly.
