Vintage Sylva Chrome EMU Cigarette Case, Art Deco Fanburst Engine Turning, Blank Cartouche, Made in England
Description
The outside barely gave the game away. Open it, and the years are waiting inside.
A vintage English cigarette case by Sylva Chrome under the EMU brand, with a particularly striking Art Deco-style engine-turned front. Deep rippling lines spread outward in a dramatic fanburst from the lower centre, framed by finely textured geometric side panels and a small polished rectangular cartouche. The cartouche remains blank and unmonogrammed.
The reverse changes character completely, carrying a restrained all-over engine-turned pattern divided by clean linear borders. The chrome exterior is exceptionally well preserved and presents with a bright, crisp finish; the fanburst remains sharply defined and highly reflective.
The polished interior retains its original black elastic retaining assembly. It is stamped “SYLVA CHROME,” “EMU,” and “MADE IN ENGLAND,” providing a firm maker, brand, and country attribution. Further patent wording is also present, though no precise production date is claimed.
The case has been used despite its remarkably fresh exterior. Interior scratching, small dark marks, and green oxidation around the retaining-band anchor are visible. These signs of use are confined principally to the interior and are documented clearly in the photographs.
